The ASYV opened its doors in 2008 to teenaged orphans from across Rwanda. Today, it is a vibrant healing and educational community of 500 whose tears are dried ("Agahozo" in the Rwandan language) and who come to know peace ("Shalom" in Hebrew). These kids may have come from traumatic backgrounds, but they are full of incredible potential. The ASYV is a place of transformation: over the course of four years, the kids are equipped with a place to heal and the tools to flourish. They graduate as independent adults poised to make an impact on their own lives and the trajectory of their country. Already hundreds of ASYV alumni are successfully moving on to exciting new chapters in their own personal development.
Employees, family members, and friends of the financial services firm Liquidnet have been supporting the ASYV since it was just an idea in idea in the mind of its late founder, Anne Heyman. While we are still devastated by her loss, we are committed to sustaining her vision of a place of hope, a place for traumatized youth to call home. Race for Rwanda has been Liquidnet's way of raising money and awarness for this inspiring and innovative project. Employees and friends from Liquidnet offices around the world have set up teams to take on a variety of physical challenges to support the ASYV.
Help make a difference in the lives of Rwandan youth. You can join a team, contribute to a team member, or launch your own Race for Rwanda to raise money and awareness for the youth who call the ASYV home. If you have any questions about how to set one up, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
